New Zealand has launched a major policy reversal, announcing that feral cats will be added to the country's national Predator Free 2050 eradication list.
Conservation Minister Tama Potaka confirmed the move—& called cats, "stone cold killers." The 2050 goal now targets the total elimination of feral cats, alongside existing pests like stoats, ferrets, weasels, rats, and possums, in an effort to safeguard vulnerable native species such as birds, bats, lizards, and insects.
